For The Love Of Music – My New Vestax VCI-100

line

It’s been a few years now since I’ve decided to venture back into the musical side of things, and just the other day I decided to do something about that. Although my previous experiences have been mostly with a band and musical instruments, this time around I’m going fully digital and not really using an instrument per say at all.

I purchased the Vestax VCI-100 in search of tackling the DJ realm of electronic music. While I’m not a be electro head, I plan to take my experience and and expand on genres most DJ’s don’t normally play with. Growing up heavily with classic rock and punk, I hope to bring a lot of this to the table in my mixes.

At this point in time I’ve only spent a few hours with it, but so far I love and have no doubt this bad boy will get used quite often, not only by me but some DJ friends as well. I will keep you guys updated with any mixes that are worthwhile to hear, and share them on my blog and the usual social networks I am on.

Tonight I decided to purchase some upgrades for the VCI-100 from DJTechTools.com. They have a black overlay that is designed for Traktor Pro and a remapping file that is updated monthly to get more usability from your VCI-100. Although I love the black overlays, it would looks funny half black half silver on this one. Although I did opt for the Black Knobs. They look good :)

Hopefully one day I can start to learn the basics of controllerism as I believe I’ll be able to play with my favorite genres in mixes and little more creatively. In the meantime, check out this video of Ean Goldan
